The organizers of the PKO Gdynia Half Marathon are focusing on women. On January 7th, a Sportowa Przystań (Sports Haven) will open in the city—a special facility for women who want to stay active and prepare for the race.
Sportowa Przystań, located at Świętojańska 139, will be open Monday to Friday from 16:00 to 20:00. During this time, a specially adapted space will be available with qualified animators who can look after children, allowing parents to go for a run.
Poland lags behind Europe in terms of women’s activity levels, and we would like to reach a point where women make up half of the participants in the PKO Gdynia Half Marathon. We understand that daily professional and family responsibilities, including childcare, can be a significant barrier to regular physical activity. That’s why we want to help all interested women in the simplest way possible—by freeing up their time for running.
Michał Drelich, Director of the PKO Gdynia Half Marathon
Sportowa Przystań will be free of charge for women registered for the PKO Gdynia Half Marathon. The fee for leaving a child at Sportowa Przystań will be 25 PLN per hour. Participants of the PKO Gdynia Half Marathon or the accompanying PKO Gdynia 5K will be exempt from the fee for the first hour. The facility will be equipped with toys, educational games, and stationery supplies.
We also plan to organize motivational meetings and workshops for women. We want Sportowa Przystań to be a place where women can discover and develop their passion for running, meet interesting and inspiring people, and deepen their knowledge about training and healthy eating. All these activities will be carried out in cooperation with the City of Gdynia and our partners.

Sportowa Przystań takes its name from the neighborhood “Przystań” centers in Gdynia, which serve as community meeting places for residents. The facility at Świętojańska 139 is set to open on January 7th, with adaptation work currently underway.
Sportowa Przystań will operate as a pilot program until the end of April 2025. However, the organizers of the PKO Gdynia Half Marathon do not rule out extending this period, depending largely on the level of interest in the project.
The PKO Gdynia Half Marathon, along with its accompanying events, will take place during the weekend of April 26-27, 2025. In addition to the 21.1 km race, the program will also feature a 5 km breakfast run and children’s races.
